THE Best '80 JGB Show |
A little over a year ago I recommended this show as “one of the best '80s JGB shows,”
http://archive.org/post/398154/one-of-the-best-80s-jgb-showsBut after still not finding a better show, I hereby declare 3/7/82 as THE best '80s JGB show. I have yet to hear another show from this decade where Jerry is so ON. This show floors me every time I hear it, and I do believe it has the best Knockin' as well. 10/28/78 is a close 2nd though.

Re: THE Best '80 JGB Show |
11-11-82, Early and Late at the Felt Forum were the best I ever saw Garcia play in those years, including GD. Mission, Harder They Come, Dont Let Go, all at amazing energy levels. My girlfriend and I enjoyed those small NY area tours as much as anything the Boys were doing...

Re: THE Best '80 JGB Show |
I listened to Mission and Harder They Come so far. Can't wait to check out the rest. Jerry's voice sure was shot, but he more than makes up for it on guitar. Incredible playing, and nice extended solos, just how I like it. Thanks for the awesome recommendation.

Re: THE Best '80 JGB Show |
I'm not sure you could handle it :-)
I know how fond you are of 9/16/89 with Clarence. While I really love that show, I definitely prefer 3/7/82. I much prefer the setlist for that show too, which also factors into the equation slightly. Keep in mind that "best" really just means "favorite," but I'm certainly open to suggestions on other "best '80s JGB shows."

Re: THE Best '80 JGB Show |
Do you mean 4/10/82? That's probably my favorite acoustic show.

Re: THE Best '80 JGB Show |
I haven't compared all the sources so I can't say for sure which one is best. I have this copy, and I'm very happy with it:
